Ivan Gayton started with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) as a logistician in 2003 in Burundi, Darfur, and the Central African Republic, and later became Project Coordinator and Head of Mission. He was in Haiti during the cholera epidemic that followed the 2010 earthquake, where he noticed a lack of simple visualisation tools to understand the cholera case data, which spurred him to develop a keen interest in epidemiological mapping, health surveillance, and data tools. His most recent field postings were in Libya during the Arab Spring and subsequently in north-western Nigeria. He now works in MSF UK with the Manson Unit, a group of London-based medical experts who use science to improve patient outcomes in MSF field settings.
Motive Unknown is a strategic marketing consultancy founded by Darren Hemmings in 2011.
